This is some need to know information for all players. It will make the game easier in the long and will prevent some unnecessary confusion.
- What types of Role-Plays are there?
We have three different types of Role-Plays.
The first and most used will be the free form. Where any character can just go on ahead, create a thread and play to their hearts content.
The second and most important is when a staff members 'Story-Tells' with members. The Staff member will play the monsters and decide if any attacks hit or miss. This is the only Role-Play where you can actually try to finish a Burden.
The third is where a player 'Story-Tells' for other players. Sometimes a staff member is just not available and a group is just in the mood for some fun. You're more than welcome to get a group together and Role-Play. And if you have a stalemate, call in a SM to role the dice for you to decide the out come. - Can I Role-Play with one character is several boards at once?
No, but you can have one Role-Play in the city boards and one in the Flashbacks. Thus giving you TWO Role-Plays you can have at any one time with one character. - What are Flashback boards?
Flashback boards are places where you can Role-Play the history of your character. - So how exactly does it work?
Flashbacks are great ways for a change in Role-Play. When you're bored, feeling creative or just feel like you want to add depth to your characters this is the place to go. You can have flashbacks with other members, groups or (the best way) get a staff member to RP your creator mage.
These Role-Plays will tell the story of your origins, some vague memories or perhaps something completely different. Keep in mind that to have your 'creator' story you do need a Staff Member to Role-Play the mage for you. They will design the Mage, taking into account your Mason, stone type and character type. It's the Staff Member responsibility to make the Role-Play as realistic for you as possible. But don't abuse this fact. - In a Flashback Board may I request a different Staff member?
Yes, but only in extreme cases where the Staff Member either hasn't taken anything into account about your character. Utterly dominates the Role-Play or does not listen to your friendly suggestions about how you feel your flashbacks might go.
Remember though that a Staff Member will not always use your ideas, they want to make it interesting so though they will keep you happy they will try to bring in the element of surprise.
Before requesting a different Staff Member: try to explain to them the problem through PM. Usually they will simply change the RP type or even just explain why they did what they did. If you're still not happy simply request (politely) that another Staff Member take over, but this is only in extreme cases. - How do I finish Burdens?
Burdens can only be completed with Staff Member/Player Role-Plays. The Role-Play can have several members, but must have at least one Staff Member and the Staff Member will decide if you finish a Burden or not. Don't expect to complete one in the very first RP it takes time. - How many Characters can I have?
As many as you want. - Can I change, Masons, Stone after my character is accepted?
Yes, but only if you have not used them in a RP yet. - Can I change Bonds, Burdens or Clusters after my character is accepted?
Starting Bonds can only be changed if you haven't RP'd with the character and you changed the Mason/Stone. Burdens can be added and Cluster may changed whenever you want. Bearing in mind that Gargoyles who change sides too many times become distrusted among others. - Can I make a Cluster?
Not yet, this feature will be added in the near future. - Can I make a Mage/Vampire/Werewolf character?
Not yet, this feature will be added in the near future. - How do Plot Pages work?
This is where the players create sub-plot for the story. They can range from anything. Petty disputes to an attack on the Mage's Chateau, to a political land dispute that grows into a full blown war. Usually Plots are free range, you can use them to create tension in Role-Plays, makes for great fights in-game and of course puts a few characters in the spot light. - How do I make a Plot?
Fairly simple, when you and another member think of a great plot idea post them to me and the staff member will evaluate the idea, decide how much interest there is and make a decision on weather it will be used.
NOTE: You must have at least 10 posts before you can create a plot. This ensures you have a small to decent idea of how the characters and the game works.
